I have no choice... :-(
Squirrel mail just ate an email that took me an hour to compose.

*horror*

You write mails over a web interface?!

You need to install that firefox plugin that autosaves forms that you fill out online.

but... it's not even my machine. This can't be a generic catch-all solution.

Who's forcing you to use Squirrel? You could just as well get gmail or any other webmail to check your POP account on 203.xxx.yyy.77, can't you? (yes, I checked. That machine accepts incoming POP3 connections)

Um, to decompress the above a little: I am assuming that you have some reason for not using an MUA like TBird or whatever. Maybe you're using somebody else's machine, etc...

You assume correctly; I was checking email from someone else's machine. I could use gmail except I'm afraid of the Google mafia. They already know too much about me. The same applies to Yahoo et al.

Squirrel mail is decent enough most of the time. I took the better part of an hour to compose an email, and meanwhile squirrel mail logged me out silently. When I sent the message; it ate my message and left me with no way to recover it.

I think the way Sq mail should go about it is to accept such email for delivery pending authentication.
