i came to know about you from Jace, got to know you have Cannon S1 IS. i have recently bought the same. i see that it drains lot of battery. how are you managing? do you have recharable batteries, if so which one? any info will be of help
Yes, thankfully I knew the batteries would drain rapidly before I bought the camera. I use rechargeable 2100 mAh NiMH batteries from Kodak - on full charge it runs for about 500 pictures w/o flash.
I think I paid about $80 for a set of 8 batteries and a Kodak NiMH charger - not the cheapest price, but nevertheless it's working very well for me.

Sure. BTW, let me know if you need 4 of my Kodak batteries. I bought 8 of them hoping to have a spare set of 4 fully charged batteries on hand always. I never expected a set of batteries to need charging only every few hundred shots or so.
The 4 batteries have never been used - I've only removed them from the plastic packing.
No sweat, so was it Duracell ? There are other no-name brands on the Internet that are supposed to be just as good and much cheaper. I didn't have the time, and the Kodak units were the only one in store for pickup.
