My wonderful kitchen

Technicolor dreams I was at home this (sunday) evening, and I decided to make myself some dinner a little early. So I started working on some potatoes, and ended up making a super tasting dish. I think I have a new award winning recipe for crunchy spicy potatoes :-) Anyway, I had this along with some thing from the refrigerator (rasam) that was a week old - but it tasted good anyway, so I finished off a significant portion of it.

Somehow this culinary combination left me unnaturally comatose. I dozed on the couch for a little while with the TV playing, and then I came to, and had enough energy to turn off the lights and crawl into bed at 8:00 PM!!

And that wasn't all, I had these dreams. My, my such dreams - they were the wildest, weirdest ever. For example, I was flying over rural forested(??) Kansas plains(I've never been to Kansas) in a magic carpet with my Dad by my side, and I was spotting wild elephants(!!) below us. I would point out these out-of-place pachyderms to my Dad in a very matter of fact way, and then I'd throw the carpet into a tight turn, and I could actually feel the G forces as I tried to stay on the damn thing without falling off (my dad had no problems with G forces for some reason)!

((In a later version of this dream, I solved the problem of falling off the carpet during turns by installing a bulbous dome, not unlike what's found on a helicopter. Naturally, this dream being so weird, I had to take pointers on building this dome from a live, full size helicopter that [livejournal.com profile] sriramb had conveniently parked on his rooftop ))

After a few more dreams that were super surreal, I began to wake up with a realization that I had just cooked something precious in my kitchen. Who needs magic mushrooms anymore? What? :-)

P.S. Anyway, now I'm wide awake and up at 2AM with nothing to do except post on LJ!

:)

Ahem!!! Would you invite J and me when me move there? I can hint to J that *men* also cook. He only boils milk for cornflakes. That is his definition of cooking.

Mind sharing the recipe??

And your dreams are so much saner than the ones I have!!

You are moving here? That'll be nice, when? And, yes, of course you can come home. I can't promise that I'll cook up something equally fantastic, but then I'd have to charge for that, wouldn't I ? ;-)

Mind sharing the recipe??
For the week old rasam? I bet you are asking about the potatoes: Well, it more or less goes like this. [...] On second thoughts, I will email it to you - it's probably too long to put in a comment.

And your dreams are so much saner than the ones I have!!
Of course, without knowing what your dreams are like, I'd have no way to compare, but I did mention that I had a few more that were super surreal. Maybe we should compare those dreams sometime!

Yes, I meant the potatoes. I love rasam, but J does not! he calls it bolied tomato water!! So I am quite lazy to make raam just for myself. :(

We are planning to move there, sometime soon yes! You can surely charge, when you invite us...not a problem at all :D I will enure J is there with a loaded wallet. And of course, looking forward to meeting you! :)

Maybe we should compare those dreams sometime!

Errr.. I am not sure if you will like to do that. Like in the morning I dreamt I was at a beach and there was something eerie about the place. Maybe it was something to do with the Marine Drive I visited yesterday.

My dreams are quite weird. Quite strange.

I would suspect the week-old-rasam and not the cruchy-spicy potatoes. Mind sharing some of that Rasam, brother?

[identity profile] sriniram.livejournal.com 2005-06-27 06:49 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I have half a 'pot' left!

[identity profile] sriramb.livejournal.com 2005-06-27 12:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Moral: Drink week-old fermented rasam, and get dreams where i advise you to design domes for magic carpets? I thought i heard it all!!

[identity profile] sriniram.livejournal.com 2005-06-27 01:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep, and you owe me money too, according to my dream, lots of it!

[identity profile] joshmachine.livejournal.com 2005-06-28 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
i had dreams of falling and actually felling the G force..

When I was a kid, I'd close my eyes as I slipped into the bed, and I'd be able to see my bed from below as it would begin rising in a spiral, spinning around until I actually felt faint - that would actually put me to sleep :-)

[identity profile] joshmachine.livejournal.com 2005-06-28 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
hehe.. that should have made you sleep in merry go rounds also :)

heh! dunno, the weird thing was I could do this willingly - it was far more effective than counting sheep.

Hey,
I noticed you'd added me to your friends list. So I'm adding you back.

The french have wine and we have fermented rasam, it seems!

Rasam is my ultimate comfort food. It's a good thing it's so easy to make :)

[identity profile] sriniram.livejournal.com 2005-07-01 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, I did. I meant to drop you a line, and then that got added at the tail of my procrastination queue.

Rasam, especially hot rasam is indeed yummy. But, the dreams were unlike any that any wine has ever given me :-)
